How many pitches and match days a 4-team league needs

Each round is 2 games and opens a fresh match day, the way the generator lays the season out: when a day cannot hold the whole round, the rest moves to the next match day. 2 pitches with one kick-off time finish a round in a day, so the season is 3 match days; one pitch and one kick-off time take 6.

A kick-off slot is one game per pitch; round length assumes 60-minute games and 10 minutes between kick-offs.

How it works

Rounds, byes and match days for 4 teams

Rounds become match days. Each round opens on a fresh date; when a round has more games than the kick-off slots and pitches on one day can hold, the rest spill onto the next selected weekday, and the next round always starts after the previous one finishes. The sheet you download lists round, date, time, venue, home and away, which is the shape most league sites and spreadsheets expect.

4 teams is the size where a single round robin is over in 3 rounds, which is why small leagues play it twice or three times. A double round robin gives 12 games and a fair home-and-away record; three rounds gives every team 9 games in a season.

How many games are in a 4-team round robin?

6 in a single round robin: 4 teams times 3 opponents, divided by two because each game counts for both teams. Home and away doubles it to 12.

How many weeks does a 4-team league take?

One round per week, one round robin: 3 weeks. Home and away: 6 weeks. If your pitches cannot hold a full round in one day (2 games), a round spills onto the next match day and the season stretches by the same amount; the generator shows the exact dates.

How many pitches do I need for 4 teams on one match day?

2 games are played per round. With one kick-off slot that means 2 pitches to finish a round in a day; with two slots, 1; with three, 1. Fewer pitches simply means the round takes more days.

Does a 4-team schedule need byes?

No. 4 is even, so every round pairs all 4 teams into 2 games and nobody rests. Byes only appear when a team withdraws mid-season, and then the fixture becomes a walkover in the live table.

How long is one match day of a 4-team league?

A full round is 2 games. On one pitch that is 2 kick-offs in a row, 2 h 10 min with 60-minute games and 10-minute changeovers; on two pitches 1 kick-off, 1 h; on 2 pitches a single kick-off. If a day cannot hold the round, the generator moves the rest to the next match day: with one pitch and one kick-off time the single round robin takes 6 match days.
